What? Saturday? Eh…

Saturday – once again….it’s odd how these things just creep up on you. I’ve been busy this eve entertaining my folks and wishing a very happy birthday to my (now local) partner in crime, but here’s once again another shot from the beach. I apologize for the monotony of the theme these past few posts, but my laziness precludes me from acquiring new photographs. Ho-hum…

Today, however, yields a special treat! A man I shall only refer to as Sheppard the Great, both for reasons of anonymity and for the simple fact that, well, he’s simply a great man doing great things, has humbly allowed me to post a photograph of his own. And so, courtesy of the benevolent Sheppard, enjoy a shot of the California landscape being decimated by wildfire:

Quick PS: Not my can – I found both can & bucket upon my morning walk. Perhaps someone got into a little late night sand castle building? Who knows…

  • FIRST!!

love the bucket. want to have it printed. nicely done rev…

I’m wondering if this will evolve into a competition of First Commenters…(fingers crossed)

  • I love the bucket as well [2nd commenters are always the best BTW young Coltempo].
If I may make one serious point your Reverendandvicarshiplikeperson, your © banner spoils the piccy a lot in that position – a discreet bottom left or bottom right would draw the eye less. I do apologise for saying ‘bottom’ on your blog.

Why thank you, sir; as always, I appreciate your candor (and have altered the photo respectively). What say you now?

Your “bottom’ transgression is forgiven, of course.

    Tea?

  • Oh lovely pictures. And love the bucket and the can and yes, I have changed my desktop background. :)

    Btw congratulations for the award.!

Thanks! (for mine, at least…although I’m sure S. the Great is thankful, as well-)

  • Love the bucket image. You can feel the heat of the sun…

Thanks – it was about….105 degrees, conservatively, that day-

  • Looks like someone may have gotten drunk & kicked the bucket!
    :)

Where was the fire photo taken? We got hit pretty hard by the fires here in Butte County. The landscape is pretty hard to look at now, but in a year or 2 all will be green and lovely again.

  • The fire photo was taken somewhere along Highway 395 North en route to Yosemite’s East entrance about a month ago.

  • My take is that the perp was so drunk he did not see the bucket when he passed out and fell on and broke the bucket.

Certainly possible – I get the feeling we’re playing “Clue”

  • great photos :) That fire photo … wow it’s beautiful but then when you really think about what’s going on … it’s just overwhelming.

    Thanks!

I agree…which is why I immediately begged permission to share it here-

  • I will mirror the rest, bucket is fab :)

    Why thank ya! (Hat tip)

  • Now the question is, can anyone ID the can? Looks like diet sprite to me – but I’m pretty sure we get different cans down under (different animals, different beer, different shops, diff. names for the same shops – we’re just special that way).

As for the fire photo, it is somehow releiving to know that we’re not the only country to get stupidly sized bushfires/since-you-don’t-use-bush-to-mean-scrub/forrest-what-do-you-call-a-bushfire?.

@ olga: Not only kicked the bucket, but dropped the can ;) . Oh, death euphenisms – there are so many. My fave: “Pining for the Fjords.”

    Cheers Rev

Miller Lite….oops, sorry to ruin the mystery!

As far as I’m aware, the majority of California is simply CONSTANTLY on fire…or so it seems-

  • Bucket as well. The sheared jagged edges made me really look and think about it. Awesome!

Thanks very much! I agree – I was stunned they came out so sharply-

  • Agreeing with everyone…love the bucket shot.

    Thanks! (Tiny bow)

  • I too love the bucket pic, there’s just something about it.
